DIY Bathroom Remodel

When we moved into our house- I knew that it was going to need some TLC. But- I also wasn’t sure how long we would be staying here or if we would eventually tear it down to build new, so I didn’t want to spend a ton of money on remodeling.

HOWEVER- the bathroom upstairs was OUTDATED to say the least. There are 3 bedrooms (my daughters, my sons, and a guest bedroom) upstairs and I was honestly embarrassed by the bathroom that was up there for guests to use.

After

How I did it!

  • Ripped out the existing vanity. We actually learned that there was NO insulation below the original vanity- so we added that to make sure there were no leaks.

  • Replaced the Vanity with a double vanity. I bought the top and bottom seperately.

  • We had an empty space on the side from where the old vanity was ripped out so, I was able to order another slab of backsplash to cover that space.

  • Added The faucet and handles. We went with Matte black appliances.

The next step is the step that took up the most time and was the most labor intensive.

In order to not have to replace all the old ugly tile, I decided to just refinish it to brighten up the room and make it look more modern.

I used Tub and Tile. It is VERY important that you Follow the instructions closely.

Timing is very important, you also want to make sure you have a fan and the space is well ventilated. I used the paint on kind for most of it, but used the spray for things like the built in towel racks.

Keep in Mind- You are going to need more than you think. I would also get extra paint brushes or rollers incase you need to do more than 2 coats!

After all that had dried… Ideally let it sit for a solid 3 days before you walk on it- if you are doing the floor.

I started on the Peel and Stick Wallpaper.

I HIGHLY recommend getting a kit to help with installation and also buying this helper spray to spray on the wall before application to make sure it doesn’t start to peel off due to steam.

Next- I replaced the Light over the Mirror and added a peel and stick border to the mirror to make it pop. I also Added a new Overhead Light and Fan to match the matte black appliances

I added a little decor with the shelves, plants, Q-Tip holders, and a long black rug!

Next up- I will be tackling updating this Shower!!
